Informal communication between men and women takes away important and necessary common rules of etiquette. You should know that Ukrainian women are more willing to accept the courtship of the gentlemen – self-restrained, polite, confident men who are called ‘comme il faut.’

 

By the way, the literal translation of the words ‘comme il faut’ means dandy. That's the essence of the behavior of men - to act as necessary according to the situation. And as strange as it may sound, but this approach should be considered as a basic code in relations with Ukrainian women.

It is worth to recall the main ideas of etiquette. And it is better for men to consider them if they really want their Ukrainian brides like them and do not to lose their interest in an awkward situation.

1 According to the rules of etiquette in the street a man, as a rule, is located on the left from the lady. From the right side - usually military officers that must be ready to salute. Before entering the room a man opens the door for a woman and only after her he can enter the building.

2 If a man and a woman go anywhere by cab, a man comes to the car, opens the right rear door. First of all a woman sits and a man sits down next to her.

3. Walking down the stairs a man goes one - two steps ahead of the woman, and walking up - several steps back in case a woman misses a step or slips.

4. In Ukraine, it is necessary for a man to help a woman to undress in the cloakroom, and when they are leaving he helps her to put her coat on.

5. Do not be frank about your relationship with a girl or a woman with another man (in Ukraine it is called gossip and humiliates a narrator and a listener).

6. A well-behaved man will never talk to a woman about her age, and the exceptions are when men and women are on duty. Ukrainian men follow the rule: the age of a woman depends on her look.

7. Never touch a woman without her desire, even by the hand, do not touch her during a conversation, push it or take by hand above the elbow, unless you help her to enter the transport or to leave it or to cross the street. Otherwise you can get into a trouble- Ukrainian girls will not understand it.

8. Even if you believe that your mutual feelings allow you to hug and kiss, in any case, do not do that in the street and in the presence of strangers. In Ukraine, the manifestation of unnecessary emotions and feelings in public places are not acceptable.

9. Well-behaved people are never late, especially if the men are rushing to a meeting. If a man is dating a lady and have an appointment, the delay of 5-10 minutes is acceptable, but ... extremely undesirable. According to the rules of good manners a man comes to rendezvous for a few minutes (not seconds!) before the lady. His tardiness could put a lady in an awkward position. In the case of unforeseen circumstances, a man should inform his lady about it.

10. Loving man never forgets about the next meeting and usually says goodbye first. If you do not observe this rule, every Ukrainian woman will decide that you are not interested in her anymore.
